Charity Cup April 2nd
On Sunday 2nd April we held our 3rd Charity Cup. Teams from Hilton London Heathrow T4, Conrad London St James, Hilton London Olympia, Hilton London Metropole, Hilton London Kensington, DoubleTree by Hilton London Islington and London Hilton on Park Lane. With the sun shining the teams battled it out on their pitches to try and get a place in the semis. The winning team on Pitch A was Heathrow T4 and they played London Met 2 who were runners up on pitch B. This game ended with Heathrow as champs winning 1-0. The other semi-final was played by the London Mets other team who played London Olympia the winners of pitch B. That semi went in to sudden death penalties with London Met coming through as the victors with 5 penalties to 4.
This set us up for the final Heathrow T4 v London Met, a tense final that ended goalless and in to penalties. After 23 penalties in total London Met were crowned champions winning 12 to 11.
It was a fantastic effort by everyone that took part. The next cup will take place in summer and if you are interested in having a team take part email Samiya at Samiya.firstname.lastname@example.org today.
Charity Cup October 9th
Thank you so much to everyone who participated in our second Charity Cup on Sunday 9th of October.
We had 7 teams from Hiltons across London taking part. On the day we had The Canaries and Canary Wharf United representing Hilton London Canary Wharf, two teams from Hilton London Heathrow Terminal 4, Kensington Knights stepping up for Hilton London Kensington, teams from Doubletree by Hilton London – Tower of London and a team from DoubleTree London Islington
It was a day full of energy, injuries and lots of goals. All the teams that participated fought hard to make it to the final but the crown went to Heathrow Airport. They played Canary Wharf United in the final and won 2:1 in the end. Third place went to The Canaries who beat DoubleTree by Hilton London Islington by 4 goals to 1.
We also hosted a ‘loser cup’, this was played by the Kensington Knights and the 2nd Heathrow Airport team. That game went into extra time and Kensington Knights came out as the winners beating with 4 goals to 3. This meant that Heathrow Airport were both the winners and the losers of the tournament.
A huge thank you to Henry Hurley who helped our team on the day, the youngest volunteer helped register our players and sell snacks on the day. A big thanks to Jason, Jayden, Taylor and Devonte who came down from City and Islington College to referee the matches and keep our players in check.
