Galvin’s Chance is our inspirational ‘into work’ programme for disadvantaged young people aged 18-24.
The programme leads to pre-employment hospitality training, a work placement and sustainable employment. Initiated by Chris Galvin, Chef Patron and Fred Sirieix at Galvin at Windows restaurant in 2009, the programme targets people aged 18-24 who are not in education or employment, and offers them training and opportunities for a front of house career in some of the most prestigious hotels, restaurants and food service management organisations in London. This is the beginning of their involvement in a life changing programme that will ultimately provide them with the confidence, aspiration and opportunity for a career in the hospitality industry.
Through principal partnership arrangements with the Foundation, The Springboard Charity and London CRC and with the support of fantastic employers including the Royal Automobile Club, Galvin Restaurants, Park Plaza and other top names, the project provides mentoring, work experience, skill training, employment and the opportunity to study for qualifications leading to NVQ Level 2 in Hospitality. It is designed to give all of the young people on the programme the skills, the support and the opportunities to start a career in the hospitality industry; to change and improve their lives for the better and to inspire those around them.
