Time & Talents is dedicated to creating a place where everyone feels part of a community and is based in Rotherhithe and Bermondsey, South London. Time & Talents brings people together for mutual support, fun and friendship through a range of services and activities that address social isolation, increase mental and physical wellbeing, and reduce divisions across the community.
The Foundation has supported weekly activities for children and families, including gardening and sessions on pedagogical methods for parents. Time & Talents shared one local family’s experience.
At our ‘Little Bugs Nature Club’, we had three generations of one particular family taking part together in the creative children and family gardening sessions. In the photo you can see Julie with her granddaughter Lexie, and Julie’s son Nicky who also brought his son Oliver. In this session, the families painted flowerpots and then planted seeds in them. They also planted flowers in our community garden which, three months later, are still flourishing!
Lots of the families we work with don’t have their own gardens, so getting outside together in our community garden is a really special experience for them to share.
