Eve has been supporting women and children escaping domestic abuse for over 30 years and their new Restored Programme is a holistic structured programme for survivors of domestic abuse who are looking for change. At the heart of eve’s work is a passion to see victims become victors for women and children to find healing and restoration in order to reach their full potential, to rebuild a sense of family for those whose families have been destroyed by domestic abuse.
Eve provides a large range of different activities, including specialist domestic abuse group work to help women and children understand their experience and to begin the journey of healing together. The Foundation has helped eve to provide the materials they need to run these groups and activities. Their families have been ABLE to take part in Restored activities to celebrate their Freedom and to re-connect after damaging experiences.
Children on their DART group (Domestic Abuse Recovering Together) said: “I enjoyed everything about DART”, “I have learnt how to stay safe and face my fears. It is easier now to talk to dad on the phone”, “Mum doesn’t shout as much as she used to, and she plays with us more”, “DART helps you know what to do when you’re angry and if you’re stressed, and helps you communicate with people”
One of the mums on the group wanted to encourage others to experience what she had gained and said: “This is a really great time and every week you will learn something new about your child and yourself. You might laugh one moment and then in the next one you might feel you want to cry. But that is OK… Be patient with yourself and with your child. Every little change is very important and it’s worth it.”
eve has received over £7,500 in grants from DM Thomas Foundation since 2013.
