Wendi Knibbs from Maple Court and her son Lewis are raising funds for the Foundation and local partner Rhythmix as part of an ongoing fundraiser which will culminate in mother and son joining a 5 day trek in the foothills of the Himalayas, from Dharamsala through the Daula Dhar Mountain Range.
Wendi and Lewis will be raising £3,000 to support young people, and have been working hard to reach this fantastic goal. To date, they have raised a magnificent £1,536, with one month to go before their trip.
In order to raise these much-needed funds, they have held a number of events throughout the year. Lewis turned 18 this summer, and as well as generously donating his birthday money to his fundraising pot, he also held a fundraising party on 7 August which raised over £850.
Wendi and Lewis are hoping to fund a programme which will offer a group of young people from all walks of life the opportunity to learn, practice and perform music as a group. As a brand-new skill, it instils young people with confidence to stand up and perform and is often a totally unique experience for the young people. It has a lasting impact on their self-esteem and ability to deal with new situations, as well as offering a chance to build new friendships and build mutual understanding and respect.
