The Foundation’s Ducks for Change have a big fan base across Europe, and so when we had the chance to transform them into the digital heroes of their own mobile phone game we couldn’t refuse!

“When we launched the first set of ducks in 2010, we had no idea just how popular they would become!” said Simon Sheehan, Director of the Foundation.
“Five years later, we have created a wide range of different ducks and sold thousands of boxes around Europe. We knew it was time for the ducks to take the next step, and a mobile game that would allow our duck fans to interact with their favourite characters seemed like the perfect choice.”

After discussions with Eastman Chemical Company, who have been supplying the plasticizer for the ducks since 2003, Ducks for Change: River Dash was born. The mobile app is the first in a series of mobile games to be developed through the collaboration and each game will feature Ducks for Change characters as they go on a variety of adventures.

On 9 July we officially launched the app at Frank Barnes School for Deaf Children. In a room filled with ducks of all shapes and sizes, we introduced the pupils to the game as well as presenting a new plastic duck which had been designed by a student from the school as part of a contest held in 2014. Painter Duck was designed by Setayesh and is available to buy now in a set with fellow career ducks Teacher Duck and Scientist Duck.

During the event, students had an opportunity to play the game on tablets and mobile phones, and also to take part in some other duck activities. There was a duck-shaped ball pool, which students could fish for ducks from using fishing nets, and some delicious sweet treats with an edible Ducks for Change logo on, which were lovingly baked by members of the Foundation team.

Godefroy Motte, Senior Vice President and Chief Regional and Sustainability Officer said: “Launching the fun and cheeky range of novelty ducks with the students of the Frank Barnes School for Deaf Children was an amazing experience. This is where we measure the impact of our commitment to the wellbeing of our employees and the communities where we work and live.”

Ducks for Change: River Dash is available to download for free through the iTunes app store and the GooglePlay store.
